Many women have problems finding the right eye shadow colors to compliment their eye color. Here are some tips from our professional makeup artists that are easy for everyone to follow, and that will help you get a beautiful look just for you! First of all, look in the mirror and identify your eye color, then go with the following guideline to find your eye shadow colors.

Blue or Bluish Gray Eyes: Silver or Brown eye shadow to compliment your eye colors.

Tips: using Elain’s Silver Sparkle Stick as eye shadow base topped with Silver Catch Me Eye Shadow, or Elain’s Mocha Bronze Sparkle Stick as eye shadow base under Bronze Star Catch Me Eye Shadow.

Green Eyes: Purple or Brown eye shadow to compliment your eye colors.

Tips: using Elain’s Violet Sparkle Stick underneath Violet Star Catch Me Eye Shadow then finish the look with Duet Eyeliner in Purple. For a more dramatic effect, use red undertones like those found in our Bronze Power Electric Eye duo.

Brown Eyes:

Brown eyes are fun because they have different undertones to them. Look in the mirror and identify the dominant undertone in your eye (what color do you see in the brown?)
a) If you see a Golden Yellow undertone: Purple or Green Gold eye shadow.

Tips: Purple Star Catch Me Eye Shadow. If you would prefer gold tones, try our Passion Bond Electric Eyes Duo on top of Gold Sparkle Stick.
b) If you see an Orange undertone: Blue eye shadow

Tips: use Elain Aqua Sparkle Stick lightly underneath Elain’s Love Cleo or Indigo Dream Electric Eye’s duo.
c) If you see a Dark Brown undertone: Green eye shadow

Tips: Olive Green Sparkle Stick all over the eyelid topped with Green Star Catch Me Eye Shadow, highlight your brow bone with Champagne Star Catch Me Powder. To really make the look complete, use Elain’s Olive Green Duet Eyeliner.

Hazel Eyes:

Hazel eyes are a mixture of yellow, green, and brown. Every hazel eye will have a different combination of those colors so you’ll want to choose whether you want your eyes to look more yellow or green then follow the guide above.

Remember, makeup is an art, your face is the canvas – have fun, be bold, and try some new colors!

~Elain Electric Eyes~

It's that time of year again! Time for all of those Christmas parties and the makeup to go with them. Here is one idea for you, glowing skin, icy eyes and glossy lips.

For this look : use Elain Silver Sparkle Stick all over the lid as a base from lash line to brow. Using Elain Electric Eyes in Love Cleo, place the lighter blue all over the lid. Apply the darker blue in a side V on the outer corner of the eye bringing it through the crease toward the inside of the eye - keep the line clean and tight (picture 2). Under the outer corner of the eye, smudge some of the dark blue shadow into the lashline. Next use a shimmery white shadow (see the Night Fever duo) to highlight the brow, line the lower lashline, and highlight the inner corner of the eye (picture 3).

After you apply your foundation and powder, take your shimmery white shadow and dust it lightly over the top of your cheekbone near the temple (picture 1) to create a subtle, beautiful glow. This is a fun tip especially when you are going to be out at night, the low lights will cast a lovely glow on your skin. It's a nice effect on the neck, chest, and shoulders too!

Wishing you much beauty through this Christmas season!

Arabic Inspired Makeup

Recently for a photo shoot the inspiration was Arabic eye makeup - dark, mysterious eyes with winged tips, strong brows, and intense lids... so beautiful!

The eyeliner was laid down pencil first on the upper and lower lashline then liquid on the upper lashline(Duet eyeliner). The inner corner was brought to a sharp point to really emphasize the almond shape of the model's eyes. After that the lid was packed with a mix of dark graphite shadow and a midnight blue. The crease was carved out following the contour of the browbone finishing with wing tips. Just under the brow a sheer wash of shimmery snowy white enhanced the drama.

The cheeks were swathed in a soft peach blush and highlighted with a soft white gold beauty powder. A juicy orange Bijou Beam gloss on the lips made it all pop.

Always a fun evening look - make it your own with whatever color suits your mood!

Until next time...
